iAERO Introduces Certified Cockpit Voice Recorder Solution (CVR) for Fixed- and Rotary-Wing Platforms

MUSKOKA, ON — December 12th, 2025 — iAERO announces the availability of a certified Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) system engineered for modern fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. The CVR integrates seamlessly with a wide range of airframes and provides reliable, TSO-compliant recording of cockpit audio, rotor data, time sources, and crew communications, supporting both regulatory compliance and enhanced operational safety.

The system records four dedicated audio channels at 16 kHz sampling, including the cockpit area microphone, boom microphones, and intercom traffic. It also captures Captain’s Clock ARINC 429 time data and dual rotor frequency inputs ranging from 1 Hz to 20 kHz, enabling accurate playback and event reconstruction. In its combined CVR/FDR configuration, the system provides a minimum of 25 hours of recorded data, stored in a crash-survivable memory unit designed to meet the stringent requirements of FAA TSO-C123c, FAA TSO-C124c, and EUROCAE ED-112A.

Mounted as a Line Replaceable Unit (LRU), the recorder features a robust aluminum chassis, MIL-C-38999 connectors, optional Recorder Independent Power Supply (RIPS), and compatibility with an Underwater Locator Beacon. The accompanying Cockpit Control Unit (CCU) provides test, event marking, audio monitoring, and audio erase functions, and installs quickly using standard Dzus rails.

The system supports ARINC-717 and ARINC-429 aircraft interfaces, allowing flexible integration across legacy and modern avionics suites. When installed with RIPS, the recorder meets TSO-C155b, providing a minimum of ten minutes of independent backup power to protect recorded data during a power interruption. All variants are qualified to RTCA DO-160G environmental standards, ensuring dependable operation in demanding flight environments.

As an approved DAO engineering and manufacturing organization, iAERO delivers turnkey CVR integration kits and installation packages for multiple airframes. Recent projects include fully engineered CVR and CCU installations for the AS332L2 and Bell 412, with structural provisions, electrical routing, and ULB mounting designed to OEM and regulatory requirements.
